Element setup

Connect to CallChat.

CallChat is designed to stay Matrix-compatible. You can use Element while the CallChat-branded app is being built.

Setup steps

  1. Install Element. Download Element from Google Play, Apple App Store, desktop, or the official Element website.
  2. Choose custom homeserver. During sign in or account creation, choose the option to edit or use a custom homeserver.
  3. Use callchat.org. This is the active homeserver for Element login.
  4. Skip old fallback values. Use callchat.org unless the support guide specifically tells you otherwise.
  5. Sign in with an active account. Create an account through the CAPTCHA-protected Sign up tab, then use the same Matrix ID in CallChat Web or Element.

Connection values

Active homeserver: callchat.org. Voice/video calls use the CallChat TURN relay when clients need NAT traversal.

Anti-spam registration

Public account creation is live through the Sign up tab at /chat/. The homeserver requires a local one-time arithmetic question and enforces registration rate limits before an account can be created.
